What is a Togle?
Togle is a word with many meanings. It is an uncommon noun and verb. The word first appeared in the 18th century, and it is now used in technology as a switch that toggles between two different settings – up and down. In the computer industry, the word also has an alternative meaning: on and off. Regardless of the usage, toggling is an extremely convenient way to switch between different settings.
Toggling can apply to both hardware and software. Hardware toggles can be found on keyboards to enable or disable certain functions. For example, the Caps Lock key turns on the Caps Lock feature while the Num Lock key turns it off. In software, toggle switches are found in options menus. By clicking on them, users can toggle between various menu items without having to use a mouse.
